Student Websites

Our students will not begin going to the computer lab until after Winter Break, but here are some of my favourite websites that I like to use in Kindergarten.

VOOKS

This is a very cool "Netflix" style version of books that come to life. Our class often enjoys these throughout our day as a little brain break or video during lunch. Check it out! They just sent me an email saying:

Vooks is a great resource to use in the home with your children. Vooks is a streaming library of ad-free, kid-safe animated read-aloud storybooks, trusted by teachers and enjoyed by millions of children around the world every week.  It is an entire library of storybooks, brought to life, to help encourage the love of reading. You can sign up for Vooks and use the take-home resources to help keep your children reading 20 minutes a day.

ABCya.com

This is a super user-friendly website that has the games grouped by grade level and then again by subject matter (letters, numbers, holiday, strategy and skill). I absolutely love all of the games on this site and your students are finding some of their own favourites as well.

Starfall

Starfall is an excellent, interactive website for learning letter names and sounds, as well as beginning reading strategies. Some of our students got to explore it during their Exploratory on Fridays and asked if we could start using it in our classroom.
